Silver Lake play pens

Diane Edwardson of the Corralitas Red Car Property blog is trying to figure out what is going on a Silver Lake hillside above Fletcher and Riverside drives. One day, she shows up to find what looks an artist’s easel installed atop some of the concrete piers that once supported a long-gone trolley-line viaduct. A few days later, above the piers, Edwardson find the triangular wooden pens (pictured above). What are those pens supposed to hold? Miniature horses? A graduate art student?
