My colorful laundrette

The owners of Aroma Laundry in Echo Park are preparing to brighten up the narrow building – which stretches from Glendale Boulevard to Alvarado Street – with some eye-catching colors. But which ones? On Sunday, owner Kris Yi and interior designer Ricardo Moreno were going over some test colors painted on the laundry’s white walls. After some discussion about “vibrating color boundaries,” Yi said she favored a combination of “Whitall Brown” and “Tropicana Cabana.” But she does not have the final say. Her mother, who manages the Echo Park coin laundry, also has to be consulted, and, so far, the two have not reached an agreement. “She has nixed some colors,” said Yi. With painting expected to begin soon, the rest of Echo Park will quickly find out if mother or daughter prevailed.

  1. i like this laundromat but i stopped going there because i always got locked out before the advertised closing time of 10 pm. i got really tired of apologizing for wanting to do my laundry during the night time hours they post. they should change their hours if they want to close early.
