Not every indie music fan is at Coachella this weekend

About 20 music and vinyl record fans in search of limited edition releases and other promotions were lined up outside of Origami Vinyl at 10 AM today when the Echo Park shop opened earlier than normal as part of Record Store Day. More customers squeezed into the narrow store once the doors opened to rummage through boxes of newly shrink-wrapped records. The Eastsider went at the request of two teenage nephews from Fallbrook who had to be the first on their cul de sac with the Gorillaz’ White Flag 10-inch and MGMT’s Siberian Breaks 12-inch. The groups remain a mystery to The Eastsider, who probably last bought a vinyl record from the long-gone Music+ in Monterey Park. The nephews, by the way, collect vinyl but don’t own a turntable.

  1. Who are these fools who collect vinyl but don’t have a turntable?
