Police arrested three persons in Echo Park on Thursday during a sting operation targeted at suspected buyers and sellers of stolen bikes. The three persons were arrested at two locations on Glendale and Sunset boulevards and charged with receiving stolen property, said LAPD Senior Lead Officer Bobby Hill. Hill would not reveal the exact locations where the arrests took place. The arrests come after bike owners in Echo Park, downtown and other nearby neighborhoods have complained about a surge in bike theft. Popular fixed-gear bikes have been a prime target, with some owners being forced to carry to heavy-duty locks and remove all accessories from their cycles.
