A traffic accident late this morning on Glendale Boulevard at Scott Avenue sheared off a fire hydrant and set a gusher shooting into the air. No details about injuries or what caused the accident, which took place before 12 PM.
* Update: The accident involved a green sedan and a Department of Water & Power pick-up truck that was traveling southbound on Glendale Boulevard, according to officers with the LAPD Central Traffic Bureau. The eastbound sedan – which was making a left from Scott to Glendale – spun around after the collision and knocked the fire hydrant over. The driver of the sedan was transported to a hospital for treatment. The officers at the scene did not know the nature of the driver’s injuries. Southbound traffic was detoured for about 90 minutes following the accident.
