One person was left injured during a Monday afternoon shooting near Glendale Boulevard and Fletcher Drive in what police believe was a gang-related crime. The shooting took place near the Astro Family Restaurant, leading some nearby residents to suspect the restaurant had been robbed. But that was not the case said Brian Miyakawa, a gang unit detective with the LAPD Northeast Division. Miyakawa, who had only a few moments to talk, said the shooting took place on the street but could not provide any more details about the incident or the injuries suffered by the victim. A resident via email said the shooting happened at about 2:30 PM by the restaurant parking lot. “Most of the neighbors in the area heard the gunshots and some had a view of the parking lot.”
* Update: Lt. Steve Flores with the Northeast Division said the victim sustained a gun shot wound to the upper body during a car-to-car shooting.
