Dash bus passengers prepare for less service

The city’s Department of Transportation warned Dash bus riders late last year of potential rate hikes and service cuts. The rate hike to 35 to 25 cents – was approved earlier this month.  Now, the agency has begun to notify riders to prepare for less frequent service in Eagle Rock, El Sereno and Highland Park beginning August 1.

The service cuts include:

On the El Sereno-City Terrace Dash,  buses will run only every 25 minutes on Sunday and on Monday through Saturday nights after 8 PM.

Portions of the Eagle Rock-Highland Park Dash route will be eliminated on Yosemite Drive; service on Saturdays will stop at 6:30 PM and there will be no service on Sundays.

  1. Good luck if you’re poor on Sunday. I wonder how many folks use this service to get to and from Church on Sunday?

I also love how they redue service right after raising the fare. Isn’t that kind of counter intuative?

  2. that adds up to a 15% reduction in staffing, on top of a 40% fare increase. that’s a lot of money.
