New ways to explore Echo Park – via stairway & without clothes

Echo Park was the scene today of two events that encouraged  people to get out of their cars  and clothes.  The  Big Parade had people trek through Echo Park on the first day of a two-day walk that will cover 35 miles and 101 stairways between downtown and Hollywood. Meanwhile,  a group of cyclists rode through the neighborhood with little more than body paint – and perhaps some sunscreen – as part of the World Naked Bike Ride.  Not sure if the clothed walkers ever crossed paths with the naked cyclists.

  1. I don’t know if the two events crossed paths, but the naked cyclists raised quite a few eyebrows here in Elysian Valley when they ended their ride at the EV Gateway Park on Knox! Several of the neighboring kids reported back about the nudists in the park, and the parents were not happy. I believe the cops were called, but no arrests made, much to the consternation of the parents.

  2. If the bicyclists had waited an extra day, they could have picked up a few items (t-shirts, shorts, tube socks) at our infamous swap meet.
