One man injured in Echo Park traffic accident

The driver of a pick up truck was transported to a hospital in cardiac arrest after his vehicle slammed into a concrete retaining wall near the base of a steep street in Echo Park.  The accident took place  at about 2 PM  at Park Drive near Academy Road on the edge of Elysian Park.   The driver of the pick up truck, Bernard Kim, and his wife, Katharine Gosho-Kim, who was driving in a separate vehicle, had finished visiting a house they own in Echo Park when the silver Toyota truck hit the wall.  Gosho-Kim thought the truck might have suffered an electrical problem. But officer Pablo Palma said it’s not clear what caused the accident or if Kim suffered a heart attack before or after the accident. All Palma knows is that this is not the first time he’s responded  to accidents at the same location, where Park Drive comes to an abrupt stop before making a sharp turn. “I have been here more than a few times.”
