Another day, another Highland Park sewer project

Some good news for  Highland Park residents from the 90042 blog: after three years the $44 million Avenue 45 – Arroyo Drive Relief Sewer (top left) has finally been completed.

The massive project involved digging a 42-inch in diameter sewer tunnel alongside the Arroyo Seco via Arroyo Drive and the abandoned Union Pacific right-of-way that parallels the Arroyo Seco Parkway (SR-110) down stream from the Arroyo Glen neighborhood to the Sycamore Grove neighborhood.

That means a large section of Arroyo Seco Park that was closed for construction is now or will soon be open to the public.  There is a bit of bad news, however.  Work is scheduled to begin soon on the year-long, Avenue 50 and Monte Vista Street Sewer Project (top right). More details in 90042.
