Echo Park blog branches out to Atwater

Echo Park resident Kelly Smith, who publishes the Echo Park Now blog, is preparing to launch a sister blog in Atwater Village called Atwater Village Now.  The site should be running by the end of the month, joining Atwater Village Newbie and Atwater Village News as the neighborhood’s major online sources of news.  Smith, who works in Atwater Village, said Atwater Village Now will be modeled on the Echo Park blog:

“Basically Atwater Village Now is going to operate similar to Echo Park Now. I work in Atwater Village during the week, and have two other writers so far who live there. It’s a great way to get involved in a community we all adore, and kind of helps us as individuals participate in community organizations (like the neighborhood councils and other groups) while helping others learn how they can get involved. That was my primary goal for Echo Park Now as well: to bring together information about the neighborhood from a variety of resources, so that we could help engage residents and get everyone involved in the community. Also, we’ll be providing info for residents about restaurants, history, art, film and music, events, etc. through the blog and other social media like Twitter.”

Until Atwater Village Now is up and running,  the site is posting on Twitter at AtwaterVnow.
