Echo Park parrot named Charley goes missing

Lola, the Silver Lake parrot, has been found.  But Charley, an Echo Park parrot,  has gone missing.  Cherry, the bird’s owner,  is asking for help to find Charley:

We lost [Charley] Saturday from his backyard, near the southern end of Elysian park, near Sunset & Douglas.  He’s a small green long tailed parrot, (just a bit bigger than a cockatiel) named Charley, with distinctive pink throat feathers, a little over a year old.  He is young and adventurous, and must have just taken his exploring a little too far. He is an enthusiastic vocalizer, can say quite a few phrases (What’s up, Chuck?, WTF, Chuck?, Sorry, Charley!)  Charley was named after Steinbeck’s story of a road trip, Travels with Charley, so he’s always had a love of wandering, but we miss him terribly and want to see him safe home!  Please let me know if you have any way of helping us!  Thank you!

  1. There is a note spraypainted over the sign that they got the bird back. If this is true, please confirm and update your story. Thank you.

  2. Lola was indeed found, but sadly, Charley is still missing! We need to find him and bring him back home! Please keep looking for him!

  3. Sorry, Charley, belongs to my neighbor and he hasn’t returned home yet 🙁

  4. I think we’re getting tired of lost parrot stories. Birds should not be in cages anyway. No animals should be locked up for human pleasure. Let Charley be free.

  5. Charley was not “locked up”, he was free to walk around, which is why he got lost. Lost, he is vulnerable to predators, to irresponsible humans who may indeed wish to lock him up in miserable circumstances, and to starvation and dehydration. He hasn’t taken any urban foraging classes, I’m afraid. If he is still alive and on his own, he is very frightened and very hungry. Please help us search!

  6. Sorry but he might be hanging out with the Griffith Park Parrots from the fires of 2 years ago. They hang out in the trees above Elysian ES.

  7. possible the coyotes got to them, I’ve seem 2 so far during the day.
