An elderly man died late Sunday afternoon while he and his family waited for an Metro Gold Line train at the Southwest Museum station near Mount Washington. Paramedics arrived on the scene but the man had already died, apparently from natural causes, said Metro spokeswoman Helen Ortiz Gilstrap. Some nearby residents and motorists said they thought a crime had been committed at the station at Marmion Way near Museum Drive after spotting several squad cars and the man’s body – draped with a sheet – on the station platform sometime around 6 PM. “There was no crime,” Ortiz Gilstrap said. “His family thought he was napping. When they couldn’t wake him, they knew something was terrible wrong.” No information was immediately available about the age of the man – described as elderly – or where he lived, Ortiz Gilstrap said.
* Update: The deceased was an 82-year-old Los Angeles resident, according to Metro
