Update on reports of gunshots at Echo Park and Baxter

The Eastsider reported that Echo Park residents living near Echo Park Avenue and Baxter Street heard multiple shots at about 12:30 A.M. on Sunday. No one was hurt but apparently those bullets came very close to a motorist driving through the area, said Det. Lou Vargas with the Northeast Division Gang Unit.  The man, who was not a gang member, did not suffer any injuries, Vargas said in an interview today.  “He just saw a dark colored vehicle and some some flashes [of light], and he realized  his car was getting hit”

  1. I wonder what it would take to get ShotSpotter technology in Echo Park? It might not be a deterrent, but it can help first-responders gat to the scene of a shooting more quickly and potentially save lives. It’s used elsewhere in LA, not sure about our area. Does anybody know?

There are some news links on the company’s website that paint an overall compelling picture:

I wish Batman lived in Echo Park, or even that little girl from Kick Ass 🙁

  2. That’s “get” to the scene, my bad.

  3. But “gat” was actually a clever little pun there.

  4. wow that’s the same hill charlie chaplin went down with a piano. A lil trivia for the newbies 😉

  5. are you sure that’s not mixed up with the silver lake staircase where laurel and hardy were delivering the piano?

  6. aha, now I am seeing there is also a charlie chaplin movie where he pushes a piano down a hill and it falls into what is prob echo park lake so I guess that is what you’re talking about. nice bit of trivia.
