Volunteers needed for classroom makeovers

The classrooms at Logan Street Elementary in Echo Park needed some sprucing up before students return next month.  But L.A. Unified budget cuts left little money to repaint and scour out the classrooms and furniture. The Echo Park Neighborhood Council and a Logan parents group have stepped in to paint and clean six class rooms – Kindergarten and First Grade – in the next couple of days but they have run short of volunteers.  With the school district and neighborhood council paying for supplies, volunteers are being asked to commit to work for at least one hour to paint the rooms – a combination of Swiss Coffee and Blue Jay – as well as scrub down desks and other equipment, said Lisa Baca-Sigala with the neighborhood council.  The volunteers are needed Friday as well as next Monday and Tuesday.  Those interested in helping out should send an email to [email protected].

  1. where are all the parents of the hundreds of kids that go to Logan?

  2. Why only on weekdays? Wouldn’t a weekend be more likely to result in volunteers?

  3. Why dilute the Neighborhood Council effort with parents, students
    and a weekend crowd?
The whole purpose was a photo shoot aka publicity on the NC
doing good deeds on its web site.
Let them paint and clean to claim the fame……frame by frame
