You are now in El Sereno – the sign says so

Councilman José Huizar and residents will gather this evening at Huntington Drive and Maycrest Avenue for the dedication of a  a new El Sereno gateway monument sign near the city boundary with Alhambra.  The marker is part of $700,000 worth of civic improvements along Huntington Drive. What are those  green mounds on top of the monument?  Those shapes “pay homage to the community’s iconic hillsides,”  according to a Council District 14 press advisory.  The dedication ceremony, which be held near the El Sereno Farmers’ Market,  begins at 6 P.M.

  1. Is it just me or do those green “iconic hillsides” resemble a zaftig reclining nude?

  2. i think the name is el seweno!

  3. I love it. I love the people of El Sereno. Some people actually care about the community – it’s so cool. Wish EVERYONE cared about the community, but happy to have a few who do care. Happy to patronize the farmer’s market and any other business there.

  4. That’s the worst entry monument I’ve ever seen. Who ever was in charge of the design should’ve hired professional designers, not untrained amateurs. Just my 2 cents. I hope they redesign it.
