  1. Eating at KFC really IS dangerous to your health.

  2. High speeds in our neighborhood, once again. We’d do well to take a look at other cities such as West Hollywood and Pasadena that do better street design–trees, pedestrian enhancements, slower speeds. LA’s bureaucrats and elected officials don’t give a damn about our streets and accidents like this are all too common.

  3. LA’s streets are depressingly slanted towards automobiles. Every other city is working on “complete streets” that incorporate wider sidewalks for pedestrians, bike lanes (sometimes even separated), high quality street furniture, and traffic calming devices like bulb-outs wide medians, and circles. It really feels like LADOT just doesn’t give a shit. I don’t know if its because the city has so many streets that their resources are spread too thin, or that the agency is entrenched in its own bureaucracy, or a lack of leadership, or all of the above.

You’re right though Erik, places like West Hollywood, Pasadena, and Santa Monica too- they seem to be doing much better with their streets. The key factor seems to be independence from the City of LA, and thus, freedom from the confines of ass-backwards LADOT.
