Save the Date: Wednesday night jazz

The Echo Park music scene is not all about indie rock at The Echo or cumbia at Club Bahia.  Neighborhood jazz lovers now have a pair of nearby venues to enjoy a midweek dose of their favorite music.  The newly opened 1642 bar on Temple Street joins the Downbeat Cafe on Alvarado Street to host Wednesday night jazz performances. The Downbeats play every Wednesday night at the Downbeat Cafe from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.  While the jazz session ends at the Downbeat, it is just beginning at 1642, where live music can be heard from about 9:30 PM to about 1 AM,  said bar owner Elizabeth Fishbach. LAist provides a sound bite of what to expect from a yet-to-be-named band that performs at 1642, which opened earlier this year on the southern edge of Echo Park. This weekend,  1642 will serve up a second jazz session, Fishbach said. “I am also going to have early evening Jazz this Sunday, September 26 from 6-9pm, as a sort of wrap up the weekend with music and beer/wine.”
