Echo Park car gets vandalized after a weekend-long stay

A driver named David parked his car on Lake Shore Avenue near Montana Street in Echo Park over the weekend.  The vehicle looked fine when he checked on Sunday night but, on Monday morning, David found his windshield (pictured) had been smashed several times for no apparent reason. He wants to know if others have had similar experiences recently:

“When I came out Monday morning to head to a meeting I found my windshield had been smashed in.  It looks like they must have hit it at least three or four times.  The side windows were not broken and nothing had been stolen.  I’m not really sure what the motivation was behind the incident, but it cost me about $200 to fix it.  I’m hoping this is an isolated incident.  I have attached a photo of my windshield for you to check out.  Has anyone else reported anything similar?”

The L.A. Times crime map but did not reveal any car break-ins near that area over the weekend, with the exception of a theft from vehicle reported Friday night near Glendale Boulevard and Alvarado.

  1. Hi David,

My husband and I live on Lake Shore closer to Scott and we had our garage broken into the same night. Whoever broke in stole both our bikes 🙁

  2. David: did you end up going to the meeting? If so, how was it?

  3. This is Ben Welsh, the developer of the LATimes site. Did David file a report with LAPD?
