Monster trucks to roll, fly, twist & turn into Dodger Stadium *

The Dodger Stadium grounds keepers will be working overtime early next year when Dodger Stadium hosts what some say might be the  first-ever monster truck race and show in the ballpark. The Monster Jam is scheduled to be held in February, with racing and contests to take place inside the stadium, according to a Dodger posting to residents on the Echo Elysian Forum. The February monster truck show will be preceded by a previously announced motor cross event in January. It will also be the first time Dodger Stadium has hosted an AMA Supercross.  Monster truck fans on the Monster Mayhem discussion forum welcomed the news of the Monster Jam at Dodger Stadium.  “It sounds like a slam dunk for Monster Jam to me,” said one discussion board member.

The Dodgers noted that all the automotive and motorcycle action is supposed to take place inside the stadium. Outside the ballpark, in surrounding Echo Park, Elysian Heights and Solano Canyon, they promised “a complete compliment of LAPD/LADOT officers in the community.”

* Update: An estimated 550 truckloads of dirt will cover the field for the January AMA motorcycle event, according to a press release issued today by the AMA Motorcross.  Said AMA: “Never before in the 48-year history of Dodger Stadium has an event of such a unique nature and logistic complexity been held at Chavez Ravine. Known for being the home of one of the most prominent Major League Baseball franchises of all time, 550 truckloads of dirt will sit on the Dodger Stadium floor for the first time ever, signifying a new era for the venue.”

  1. Which is worse? Real Monster Truck fans or hipster’s being “ironic” Monster Truck Fans?

  2. Desperate times call for desperate for old Frank and Jamie. First they buy the Dodgers and move their trashy selves to LA and now they shill rainbow trash “entertainment”.

Lock the doors, nail down the furniture and don’t bend over, Ma!

  3. while i have no problems with monster trucks, i am a little concerned. used to be you got a break when baseball season was over, seems as if now they are looking to keep the place booked all the time. a low budget staples center would not be fun to live next to.

  4. When will the next monster truck or mot cross race will be ????
