Save the Date for “Light Frames”

Architect Gail Peter Borden has taken over the courtyard at Materials & Applications in Silver Lake,  constructing what looks like an over sized jungle gym and a “chapel” made of translucent plastic. The pair of complex geometric pieces form “Light Frames,” an art installation that will be open to the public beginning on Sunday after a Saturday night opening reception. In addition to plastic and metal, Borden’s piece also make use of  available light, according to a Materials & Applications press release:

“The resulted layering of systems produces an ephemeral array of light effects as the courtyard transitions with the sun throughout the day.”
