Shopper & Diner Report

Stark Waxing Studio, Silver Lake

By Beth Zeigler

I’ve always liked combining pampering and shopping while drinking champagne and enjoying snacks. Looks like Stark Waxing Studio in Silver Lake has read our mind–or at least shares the same mentality–just in time for the upcoming holiday shopping season. 50% off on Maya Brenner jewelry, Stark body and candles, RGB nail polish and Bittersweet Butterfly flower arrangements.

Click on the link below to find out where to pick up Thanksgiving Dinner to-go in Echo Park; Echo Park & Los Feliz fashion picks & more.

Going to a potluck Thanksgiving but don’t have time to cook? Or perhaps you aren’t schooled in the culinary arts. No matter–Cookbook in Echo Park is cooking up a feast to order. Pick a side of pear, walnut and bacon stuffing or go hog wild and have these folks cook up an entire meal. But whatever you do, don’t forget to grab some pumpkin spice cheescake squares for dessert.

  • Los Feliz, Silver Lake and Eagle Rock made the Best of LA list when it comes to finding that small-town, cozy feeling nestled in the big city of Angels. Among our favorite haunts listed; Rubbish Interiors (which helped decorate the awesome interior of Lamill Coffee across the street in Silver Lake) and Colorado Wine Company in Eagle Rock. CBS Los Angeles
  • Start your Saturday off right with fresh out of the oven foccacia at Eagle Rock Italian Bakery. What’s not hot–having to take a number and hope they don’t run out.  But if you’re one of the lucky ones, you’ll nab this treat of warm bread topped by layered tomatoes. LA Weekly
  • I’m impressed with Confederacy–a Los Feliz boutique that recently made the top 10 list in GQ’s Best Independent Men’s Stores in America. While the shop might be out of my budget, they’ve got chic threads and killer decor. Next time you’re dining at Umami Burger, stop by the shop for decor ideas you can translate at home. GQ
  • I usually know exactly what I want when it comes to fashion, but sometimes it’s good to know what the shop owners must-haves are for the season. Check out Tristan Scott’s hand picked items from E.P.I.C. in Echo Park–yeah I’m definitely digging that bow dress. Style Section LA
