Power goes out in Elysian Heights & Silver Lake

As many as 2,000 DWP customers in Elysian Heights and Silver Lake lost power earlier today after a vehicle struck a   on Riverside Drive in Elysian Valley.  The outage began at about 6:30 a.m.  but power was restored to the vast majority of customers by  2 p.m., according to a Department of Water& Power spokeswoman.  Customers in Elysian Heights and the  northern portion of Silver Lake near the reservoirs reported the outage on their Twitter feeds.  Riverside Drive between Stadium Way and Gail Street was blocked  in both directions for several hours as workers repaired the damage.

  1. When we finally got thru to to the DWP for the second time this morning, they said ‘Gee, no one told us about this until nearly 8 am, and unless it’s reported, we have no way of knowing about a major outage’.

Too bad I first reported it to them five minutes after it happened. But seriously? I hate these idiots.

  2. Well, I’m just glad they got it fixed! It was a wakeup call, realizing how much I depend on electricity……..no heat, lights, phone ans machine, wifi access, fridge, hot water, radio, garage door opener, etc.
We are spoiled with all these conveniences!
