Save the Date: Weekend Edition

With Christmas Eve two weeks away, it should be no surprise that this weekend is packed with holiday parades, events and sales. Tonight, Glassell Park lights up its Christmas Tree and on Saturday morning the Echo Park Community Parade makes its way down Sunset Boulevard. The Lincoln Heights Christmas Parade takes place on Sunday as does the Historic Filipinotown Parol Festival. Shopping, of course, remains a prime holiday activity, with many Silver Lake merchants staying open late tonight and Echo Park shops hosting a Shop Hop on Saturday night. More holiday gifts item – and entertainment – will be on tap for Sunday’s Local Artisan Bazaar in Elysian Heights. Get the details and links in Save the Date

  1. What time does the parade start? The map says noon.

  2. Historic Filipinotown

FYI – The date included in the article is incorrect. The Historic Filipinotown Parol Festival is THIS FRIDAY, December 17th. The Parol Parade starts at 5:30pm at Manila Terrace (2328 W. Temple St., 90026). The parade will work its way around Historic Fiiipinotown (on the sidewalk, there will be no street closures) and will conclude at Center of Hope (2707 W. Temple St.) where the parol contest and judging will take place.
