Still time to support Hollenbeck toy drive

Marilyn Sanchez, a volunteer with the Hollenbeck Community Police Advisory Board, has spent several days collecting toys in time for a holiday gift giveaway this coming Saturday, Dec. 18  at the Hollenbeck Division station in Boyle Heights. But Sanchez said residents can still drop off toys and gifts – intended for kids age 13 and under – at the station, located at First and Chicago streets, until Friday. Sanchez said volunteers could also help out with  transportation on Saturday.

“I am also looking for people at this time who can actually drive the kids and their parents to the station on Saturday for the presents.  A lot of these families are ‘transportation challenged.'”

Police officers have invited kids and families to pick up their gifts on Saturday. If you are interested in helping, send an email to hello@theEastsiderLA.com. The emails will be forwarded to Sanchez.

  1. This is a positive thing in the community that is necessary. It is good for the young kids to see this because some of them are raised to see that law enforcement are the enemy, but thats because of the acts of racism and brutality they have committed in the past. None the less very good to see this.

  2. ill be their im a single teen mother of 3 !!and i need help with toys
