Lights out in Elysian Heights*

Many Elysian Heights residents living northeast of Echo Park Avenue and Baxter Streets were without power tonight.  Residents reported losing electrical service at about 7:45 p.m.  Streets lights were out along sections of Cerro Gordo Street, Park Drive, Princeton and Valentine Streets near Elysian Heights Elementary School. The Eastsider is contacting the DWP for details.

* Update: About 450 DWP customers are without power, said department spokeswoman Maychelle Yee. Crews are in the field investigating the outage.  It’s not clear when service will be restored.

  1. Power came back on at my place about 8:15…hope the lights are on for everyone else!

  2. There seemed to be a damaged* pole on Valentine that they were working on and fixed. Power here, a block away, was restored within the hour. Thanks to the crew who worked to restore power!

*i do think i awoke to it’s arc mid-night the night before, blue light – humming sound. i’m resting easy now, hoping all has been resolved.

  3. Good gawd ! How is this news ? Power going out in Echo Park is just something we’ve always dealt with in the hills . It goes with the rustic feel and has ALWAYS just been a part of life up here . For the past 50 years its like ok , the power is out , IT WILL come back on ! Sit tight and be patient ! The poles ,wires, and dwp system up here is ancient .
