After missing in action for more than a month, a city street sweeper roared down Riverside Terrace this morning, much to the pleasure of Silvia Cerna, the Silver Lake woman who had been seeking the sweeper’s return for several weeks. The Eastsider published a story on the wayward street sweeper, noting that parking enforcement officers continued to ticket vehicles parked in the 2600 block of Riverside Terrace on Friday mornings – street sweeping day – even though the sweeper had stopped showing up. Why did street sweeping stop? That’s still not clear. But Cerna was just happy to hear the sound of the sweeper at about 9:30 a.m. and gave Riverside Terrace an extra scrubbing.
“They cleaned the street for 10 minutes – both sides, up and down – like its never been cleaned before,” Cerna said. “Thank God.”
