Elysian Heights hawk as hood ornament

Hawks are apparently not afraid of SUVs. This hawk spent at least five minutes  this morning perched on the hood of a vehicle on Vista Gordo in Elysian Heights.

  1. It looks to me as if the sun shining off the windshield caught his eye. He appears to looking at his reflection in the first pic and then preparing for take off in the 2nd. What a great pair of photos! Thank you for publishing it.

  2. Seems like that hawk was on an Expedition. 🙂

  3. Pathfinder!!! He sure liked looking at himself!! He would flap his wings. stop. and repeat. Finally flew off when i tried to get a video!

  4. Somebody put a leash on that thing! It’s DANGEROUS!

  5. …………Gawd , if only it was facing the camera , you would see his ECho Park tattoo on its belly , dammit !

  6. In that second pic it’s telling the truck “I once caught an off-leash dog thiiiiiiiiiis big!”
