Save the Date: Weekend Edition

Artist Miwa Matreyek has won a following by creating multimedia performance pieces that blend animation, music and her silhouette. Standing behind a screen, her shadow becomes part of an elaborate show (the video above displays an earlier performance). Watch Matreyek – or at least her shadow – in her newest piece, “Myth & Infrastructure,” this Sunday at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts.

In other events, Machine Project in Echo Park challenges the history of the automobile  in a lecture titled “Cars Before Cars;” galleries and art spaces across Northeast L.A. throw will be open late for Second Saturday Gallery Night and soloists with the Santa Cecilia Orchestra will perform Sunday night at Occidental Collage.  There will also be a pet adoption fair at the North Central Animal Shelter and an artisan fair in Eagle Rock. More to do in Save the Date
