Echo Park laughs it up

Last summer, The Eastsider published a story about the growing popularity of stand-up comedy shows popping up in Silver Lake bars and restaurants. Since then, more shows – some on a regular and others on an occasional basis – have appeared, including stand-up acts in an Eagle Rock bar and a Lincoln Heights coffee house. On Monday night , Echo Park gets another dose of stand-up with the opening of Brunch: A Comedy Show that will be held twice a month at The Park restaurant. Brunch joins French Toast, a Sunday night stand-up comedy show at Taix restaurant, as the most recent regularly scheduled comedy show in Echo Park.  Jack Weisman, who organizes the Two Headed Beast storytelling show at Stories Books,  provides more details about Brunch:

I just wanted to let you know that I am starting a new twice-a-month comedy show (free to attend) called BRUNCH, with another comedian named Jamie Lee (Last Comic Standing) and a producer named Sam Varela.  It’s happening every other Monday at The Park Restaurant of Echo Park (), and going to feature lots of famous comedians as well as talented up-and-coming comedians. It will be incredibly fun, I can promise you that.

Brunch, in this case, will begin at 9 p.m. every other Monday.
