Is that rotting meat I smell?

No, in this case what looks like a strip of beef jerky poking out between some brick pavers turns out to be a smelly Stinkhorn fungus, said Silver Lake blogger Diane Edwardson. Edwardson now adds smelly fungi to the list of natural wonders – including  giant spiders and scary succulents – that populate her corner of Silver Lake. Edwardson on a blog post Wednesday said of her most recent find:

Stinkhorn fungus looks and smells like rotting meat, attracting flies for pollination. It sprang up overnight. At first, I thought it was a bone sticking out of the brick.
