Sebastian Luduena prepares his plot for the Solano Community Garden's Earth Day Celebration.
Many drivers catch a glimpse of the Solano Community Garden as they speed northbound on the Arroyo Seco Parkway, where a hillside lot off the Solano Avenue exit has been transformed into a lush urban farm accented with folksy artwork and shady spots to rest under the trees. On Saturday, the garden will be open to the public for an Earth Day Celebration & Fundraiser, complete with live music, garden tours and other events.
Another Earth Day related event will be held in Silver Lake, where a conference will focus on ways residents can put clean energy to use. If you got energetic kids, perhaps a performance of “The Breakfast Show” – yes, cereal is provided – will help keep them busy. Also this weekend, the Kristi Engle Gallery in Highland Park opens a new show, a guided bike ride will roll through Elysian Park and there will be an Easter Afternoon Soundbath in Echo Park. More events and things to do in Save the Date.
Lovely! My family and I took advantage of this on Saturday.
