Silver Lake raises the stakes in Sunset Junction design competition

The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council has approved a $2,500 award to the winner of a design competition for a new plaza and artwork at Sunset Junction. The competition to design the $100,000 project at Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards was launched last month without a prize.  But the neighborhood council, which is co-sponsoring the competition in partnership with Council District 13, decided to sweeten the pot for the competition at its last meeting.  The deadline for entries was also extended to April 25.  Click here for competition details.

The $100,000 project proposed for Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards would anchor the western end of  $1.5 million in public improvements that includes new street trees, patterned crosswalks and bike racks along a three-block stretch of Sunset Boulevard
