Two injured in 101 Freeway shooting near Alvarado

The two men were injured early this morning in a car-to-car shooting on the southbound 101 Freeway near the Alvarado Street exit in the southern edge of Echo Park.  The two victims – one of whom was shot in the arm, the other in the back – exited the freeway and called police after driving their vehicle to Chinatown, according to Lt. Wes Buhrmester with the Rampart Division. The victims’ wounds from the 2:45 a.m. shooting are not life threatening, he said. Police have not yet determined a reason for the shooting. “The detectives will recontact the victims tomorrow to see if further information is available,” Buhrmester said.
