Bring your story – and an appetite – to an Elysian Heights school fundraiser

Who can resist a tasty enchilada and a good story? That’s what Elysian Heights Elementary parents and supporters are counting on by holding a “Stories & Enchiladas” fundraiser on Saturday, May 7. Event organizers are seeking residents to tell their favorite Echo Park stories at the event, which will also include music, a kids’ art display, raffle and, of course, enchiladas at $5 a plate. Angela Wood said the fundraiser, co sponsored by the school and the Echo Park Improvement Assn., is intended not only to raise cash for the school’s garden but to bring neighbors together:

The idea was to bring the surrounding community together, raise money and awareness for the school and have some fun!  The idea to have story telling for entertainment came out of an ongoing need to connect the school to the greater Echo Park community and to bring us together through our shared experiences.

The event, stories and other entertainment is free but the enchiladas are $5.  Click here to find out how you can share your Echo Park story.
