Elysian Heights car owner warns of roof rack thief

An Elysian Heights resident named Will wants to warn neighbors that someone this afternoon ripped the roof rack that was locked to the top of the car while it was parked on the street near Echo Park Avenue and Altivo Way.  Here are the details:

I live in Elysian Heights, and just wanted to let people know that my Yakima roof racks were stolen off my car today (June 16), sometime between 10 am and 5 pm, while I was in my house working. I had locks on the racks, and the thief damaged my car in the process of removing them. I’ve seen a few other cars with the same type of removable racks around the neighborhood, and figured people would want to know — might be a good time to take the racks off and keep ’em in the garage if you aren’t using them. Rack thieves on the loose.
