Splashy Silver Lake

Keith Wiley of Silver Lake heard the sounds of metal crashing on metal at about 4:30 p.m followed by the sight of a gusher rising above Sunset Boulevard near Vendome Street.  He sent the above photo and his observation:

Just thought I’d send along this picture of a new fountain we got here in our little ‘hood. I think it was a hit-and-run with a fire hydrant because I heard what sounded like metal-on-metal. But when I went outside I didn’t see a car waiting around with any damage … the fire department was here in under 5 minutes to take care of it.

  1. I think the driver bashed into that mid-century modern (but architecturally neglected) office building toward the left of the photo (2920 Sunset) and destroyed the corner.
