White House honors Echo Park school volunteers

Clifford Street Elementary held a special breakfast this morning to congratulate parents and other school supporters who were awarded at The President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award included a certificate and a letter from President Obama, reports parent Cecilia Padilla Brill, who shared in the honors during Clifford’s Annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast. “I along with several parent volunteers, were extremely grateful for this honorable recognition,” Padilla Brill said by email.  “We are very proud of our small school.”

Principal Armineh Alexa said that a group of 100 parents, grandparents and community members “have donated countless hours, on campus and off, working for the benefit of Clifford Street School.”
