Echo Park rec centers remain in full swing

With all the news about the recent closure of Echo Park Lake, it’s worth noting that the Echo Park Recreation Center and small playground (pictured)  across from the park on Bellvue Avenue remain open as are the tennis courts and ball field south of the 101 Freeway. In fact, Recreation and Parks Department manager Dan Hammett said the recently opened Echo Park Community Center on Colton Street and the Echo Park Children’s Center on Laveta Terrace will remain in business while the lake and surrounding park are closed for an approximately two-year-long renovation.

  1. good! Also, Elysian Park has plenty of acreage and six playgrounds within the park.

  2. This is now my family’s default playground.

I’ve lived here for nearly 15 years, but had never set foot in this part of the park.

I hope some extra attention helps bring about a freeway soundwall.
