Save the Date: Weekend Edition

As we have noted before, Eastside residents don’t have to travel to a Fourth of July fireworks show when there is usually enough to see and hear from their own backyard as the above video shot in Highland Park demonstrates (it also serves as a reminder to shield your pet from all that noise).  Those who seek  a closer view of professional and legal fireworks displays can still attend shows in Boyle Heights, Eagle Rock, El Sereno, Lincoln Heights and other locations. Also on tap for the extended holiday weekend is the Silver Lake screening of an electric car documentary; an Echo Park fundraiser for tornado victims; and a one-night performance of “The Patriot Act” by Roger Guenveur Smith in Historic Filipinotown. More to do in Save the Date.
