Storefront Report: Silver Lake gelato shop opens Echo Park branch

The sight of  cafe chairs and tables outside of Echo Park’s Citibank building marks the arrival of Pazzo Gelato & Cafe, a branch of Silver Lake’s Pazzo Gelato.  The Sunset Boulevard cafe opened Wednesday in the ground floor of Echo Park’s tallest building and joins the ranks of new cafes and restaurants that have opened in recent years, including a vegan maker of frozen deserts less than two blocks away. “We have a seasonal selection of gelato and sorbetto and we update our flavors daily,” said Christina Rivera in an email.

“Additionally, we are featuring bagels from Brooklyn Bagel and a great selection of sweets; some from Immaculate Confections and soon to include Cake Monkey. We continue to feature Weaver’s coffee and unique tea blends from Art of Tea. Coming soon (in the next couple weeks) we will be adding paninis, grilled cheese sandwiches and other light bites.”

  1. Hooray for Pazzo in EP!!

  2. I am very excited they are now open!

  3. This place is amazing! Best Gelato in LA. Weaver’s Coffee is awesome, I am addicted to that coffee! So glad they are open at that location.

  4. Went last night and they’ve done a really nice job with the place. Bigger than the SL location with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Being outside in EP with a thai tea flavored gelato is not a bad way to spend a summer evening.

  5. stopped by last night. had a thai tea and salted caramel – super yummy.

interior looks great! but i’m kinda hoping they stick a few plants and maybe an umbrella or two on the patio to break up the wall-to-wall white concrete. that outdoor space is a gem – i just think it could be a little cozier.

and you almost don’t know they’re there – they just have a simple little easel out front. wonder if they’ll put any additional signage up?

anyhow, a great addition to the neighborhood, and i wish them the greatest of successes!

  6. i should add that the nice people at the new location mentioned this is a super soft opening, so they may already have plans for the exterior.
    = )

  7. I went the night they opened, and it was lovely. Got scoops of red velvet cake and Thai tea, and it was delicious! So glad to see them in Echo Park, within walking distance.

  8. Needed this bad! So excited and happy to have Pazzo in Echo Parr. Now all we need is ten more options and I will feel like I live in a ped friendly city 🙂
