Echo Park merchants take advantage of “Junction Malfunction”

After this weekend’s Sunset Junction festival was abruptly cancelled, Silver Lake merchants organized a last-minute No Function Junction featuring sidewalks sales, live-music and other events.  Now, Echo Park store owners along Sunset Boulevard are also getting into the act by holding Echo Park Rising, a weekend of sales and shows featuring some of the bands that had been scheduled to perform at Sunset Junction. The event’s website described Echo Park Rising this way:

Echo Park Rising is a weekend long festival celebrating life, art, music and culture.  Located in Los Angeles’ Echo Park neighborhood, EPR brings together local businesses on and around Sunset Blvd, creating an open environment for the enjoyment of live music, independent art, local cuisine and all around good times.

Stores and restaurants will be turning over outdoor patios into stages as as offering discounts on regular merchandise and food.
