House Hunt: A 1920s Highland Park home comes with a 1960s trailer

An inviting porch and historic charm and details are the big draws for this newly listed Highland Park home at 4805 Lincoln Avenue. But what is that silver box that shares the lot with the  1923 home? It turns out to be a 1960s trailer that had been modified over the years. It’s not a streamlined  Airstream but the boxy trailer does provide a separate but small 150-square-foot office or studio in a side yard, said listing agent Rob Hanson. Hanson said the previous owner’s father rolled the trailer into place during the 1960s, and there it has remained ever since.  The trailer got a fresh coat of silver paint and some new flooring before the property was put up for sale at an asking price of  $449,000, according to the Redfin listing.

“It’s just nice to have that extra room out there” Hanson said of the trailer. “There still might be wheels down there but  I don’t suspect they work anymore.”
