No room at the inn for Eastside guests? Try these options

The arrival of summer visitors leaves many Eastsiders in a quandary. Do you squeeze the guests into your already cramped, two-bedroom, one-bath bungalow or direct them to a comfortable but bland downtown hotel or a convenient but questionable motel along Sunset or Colorado boulevards?  The vacation rentals section of Craigslist and the short-term rental website Airbnb might have suitable alternatives if you want to keep your guests close to but not in your home. Here’s a sample of daily and weekly rentals available to travelers:

Location: Silver Lake
Rate: $60/night

Location: Echo Park
Rate: $700/week
What you get: One-bedroom bungalow
Sales Pitch: “Echo Park is a popular area of old-time restaurants, sidewalk cafes, boutiques and galleries – minutes from Sunset Junction.”
Location: Eagle Rock
Rate: $55/night
What  you get: One-bedroom in a house
Sales Pitch: “Fully furnished/ with air/ lots of plants/walking distance to trader joe’s, post office, park, bus stop/ hip neighborhood(Eagle Rock)”
