Police make second arrest in fatal Echo Park shooting

The LAPD has arrested the second of three suspects who are believed to be involved in the May 7 killing of Michael David, a 30-year-old Echo Park resident who was shot on Sunset Boulevard while being chased by his assailants.  Hakop Sardaryan, 21, of Los Angeles, was booked for murder on August 3 at the Metropolitan Detention Center downtown, said Lt. Wes Buhrmester with the Rampart Division.  His bail is set at $2 million.  “His specific role in the crime is not being made public at this time, as the investigation is ongoing,” Buhrmester said.

Online prison records show that Sardaryan was arrested last month in Las Vegas. “He was located in Las Vegas, and their police picked him up,” said Buhrmester.  “We went and got him.”

A few days after David, who worked at the Silver Lake Trader Joe’s, was fatally shot, police arrested one suspect, 23-year-old Jeffrey Cardona, who has been charged with murder. But homicide detectives are not certain he was the shooter.

  1. How quickly people forget? Remember the uproar when this actually happened?

Now a dude with an armenian surname has been arrested and booked for murder, and this will be the first comment on this post…

Would people be commenting if it was a spanish surname? Cardona sounded spanish… none of this makes sense. I do hope to hear what the actual story was at some point …

    Weird. And a little sad.

  2. I was relieved to see that some new information has come about, Ive been checking the news and everything has been so dormant for a while. I was a little surprised too with the armenian surname, but at least another suspect is in custody and time will let the facts of the case reveal themselves. Good that the police are still in pursuit of suspects. Hopefully thru presentation of evidence and trial everyone will have the information needed to answer the puzzling questions. Although I cant say it would give those closest to him any greater peace of mind. Everyone just misses him so so much.

  3. And ya hes armenian for sure for that one guy that left a comment…i have known hakop saredryan for about 7 years hes been shoot before also in his stomach

  4. And iam sorry to hear that a young man died..
