Police seek help in finding Echo Park murder suspect

The LAPD today released photos of a 22-year-old man suspected of being the gunman in the fatal shooting of Michael David, who was gunned down in Echo Park in early May.  Two other suspects in the shooting are in custody but Peter Michael Lopez, who is believed to be the man who fired the shot that killed David, is still at large. “We’ve followed many leads and have not been able to locate him,” said Lt. Wes Buhrmester with the Rampart Division. Police provided these details in a  flyer:

Lopez and two additional suspects confronted the victim on the south sidewalk of Sunset Blvd, between Laveta Terrace and Echo Park Ave.  The victim ran from the suspects.  Lopez caught up with the victim, drew a handgun and fired one round striking the victim in the back causing his death.  Two suspects have been arrested and charged with 187 (a) PC.  Peter Lopez remains at large.  He is known to frequent the Echo Park, East Hollywood, and Highland Park areas.

Lopez, who has the ““F**k the World” tatooed on his chest, is also known as “Cracks.” Anyone with information should  contact Det. Linscomb or Det. Arteaga, Rampart Homicide Unit, at (213) 484-3642 (or 3639) for further information.

  1. Scum!!!!
Who the hell shoots someone in the back?
It could’ve been me-I live on Echo Park and wobble home often.
Super scary that he’s still lurking amongst the good people of the world.

  2. I like so many just hope and pray that someone provides information and police are able to apprehend the final suspect so this can go to court and be prepared to stand behind Mickey’s family, along with some of his closest friends for anything, any support they may need in the process…..many feared that the case was going to be swept under the carpet as so many cases do….thank you to the LAPD for all the work you have done so far in the investigation….and my heart goes out to the family, his kids, and all of his closest friends who continue in the healing process….its hard to see the face of the person possibly and largely probably the man who took the valued life of everyones fun loving friend, son, brother, and father…..my thoughts and prayers are with and for you all….just makes me so sick and sad, he is missed by so many, so much…

  3. ““F**k the World”??? Charming!

  4. Wow, a former student of mine at Clifford Street. Sad that another former student, Johnny, died 3 days ago from drugs. He had been a mess for years wandering the streets high out of his mind. It seems like Echo Park is turning toxic again.
