Prayer service to be held for Silver Lake shooting victim

A prayer mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13 in Silver Lake for Juan David Vasquez Loma, the 25-year-old restaurant worker who was shot and critically wounded while driving on Silver Lake Boulevard.  The service in English and Spanish will begin at noon at Saint Fransis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1523 Golden Gate Avenue.  Vasquez has been declared brain dead and is not expected to survive, police said.   El Chavo restaurant, where Loma worked as a busboy and waiter, has established a victim’s fund for Loma.
