Another day, another police pursuit and stolen car crash in Echo Park

A stolen vehicle being followed by police through the streets of Echo Park this afternoon crashed into two parked vehicles shortly before 2 p.m. in the 1600 block of Grafton Street.  The suspect, who ran from the car following the crash, was taken to a hospital after he cut himself jumping over fences, police said.  Officer Reyna with the LAPD said a police unit observed the car driving fast near Sunset Boulevard when they determined the vehicle had been stolen in Alhambra. They followed the vehicle as it sped through narrow and hilly streets, ignoring  stop signs and nearly hitting an oncoming car right before the crash, according to Grafton Street residents.  The stolen car scraped the side of one car before smashing  head-first into another vehicle.

Today’s crash comes after a police pursuit in Echo Park on Friday afternoon ended when the stolen SUV collided with two cars near Echo Park Avenue and Sunset Boulevard.

  1. O yeah that wrecked beater you see is a 94 Accord…. thieves love these vehicles cause they’re so simple to steal. Mine disappeared last year in SL on the one day I was too lazy to throw the club on the wheel. If this is your ride, always clamp on the red stick!!

  2. It’s not only because they’re easy to steal – it’s also because the parts will work in most Hondas because they’re so standardized – making Hondas easier to chop-shop than other brands.

  3. Chop of there hands!!!

  4. I had my Honda stolen many moons ago off of SL and LAPD got it back quickly. I really appreciate them arresting the punk and getting my baby back…. except for my ipod.
