Saturday night was Wonder-ful in Echo Park

The highlight of a Saturday night tribute to Stevie Wonder at the Echoplex was an appearance by the artist himself that surprised and thrilled the audience. Damien DeCottle, who heads security at the Echo Park nightclub, describes the scene after Wonder arrived at the club after midnight and made what’s probably his Echo Park debut:

Stevie showed up around 12:30 and hung out with his son and daughter for the remainder of the evening. He did indeed get on the stage and sang 3 songs  and made a beautiful speech about 9/11. He sang a Michael Jackson song and two of his – not the whole song, but half of the songs. It was truly amazing.
