The Bicycle Kitchen, a nonprofit bike education repair group in East Hollywood, is hosting a concert and record release party in Echo Park tonight to  help raise funds for a new home. Kristen Erickson of Bicycle Kitchen said the rent on its current space, which is leased on a year-to-year basis, keeps rising with no end in sight.  A home of it’s own will give The Bicycle Kitchen more financial security and stability. Tonight’s concert – called FOK (Friends of Kitchen) Rock –  at The Echo will be the first of several planned to help raise money for a new home. Erickson, who lives in Silver Lake,  describes what’s on tap for tonight:

To help fund this, we are going to be putting on a series of events, the first being a record release / concert over at The Echo on Wednesday, September 21 @ 8pm called FOK (Friends Of Kitchen) Rock. So many of our musically talented buddies are playing: Cárceles, Aarrón!, The Cooling Time, The Ditty Bops, Glassell Park 3, LaMuff, Lethal Apes, McDougall, Mikki and the Mauses, Psychic Weather, Slumgum, Telematique, Triple Chicken Foot and more, if you can believe it!

Songs from the groups have been compiled into an album that will be available for download at  a name-your-own price.
